Match Report Tamborine Eagles U11'S blue Vs Runaway Bay Orange 3/5/14:

Tamborine Mountain Eagles U11's (blue) hosted Runaway Bay (orange) on a bright and, sunny but cold and windy late morning.

The Eagles won the toss and opted to kick off for the first half. The home side were under immediate pressure doing very well to soak up attack after attack with only a few breakaway chances of their own which bore no fruit.

First half goal keeper Matt was well protected with brave and dogged, back to the wall defending from Chian, Eddie, Mia and Uan. Despite the great defending the keeper was forced to make several important saves, however the visitors were too strong and grabbed a goal 8 minutes before the interval.

A shaken but determined Eagles side rallied to launch a number of swift attacks of their own with Ashley narrowly missing the target and Lewin and Noah D always threatening.

But again the visitors proved too strong and snatched a 2nd well earned goal to make it 0-2 with only 2 minutes before the half time whistle.

Second half and the home side came out of the blocks strongly and the hard working and industrious performances of the midfielders Ash, Noah D, Ellie and Mica was rewarded when Lewin was put through with a good forward pass. Lewin stuck well but the shot was blocked and fell to Ash who kicked sweetly to see the ball power into the top right of the goal leaving the keeper no chance. Great goal!! 1-2 and 15 minutes to play.

Their spirits lifted it was The Eagles turn to pile on the pressure with more great work from Uan and Noah L. But despite the hard work and good passages of play, the visitors began to impose themselves and dominate and with just 4 minutes left on the clock Runaway Bay broke through an heroic defense to slip the ball past 2nd half keeper Eddie.

A good solid performance from The young Eagles against a strong and well organized Runaway Bay. the scoreline of 1-3 probably a good reflection of the match.
